How soon do I need to reserve my florist?

As soon as the main details are firm: your date, the ceremony and reception site, the colors of the wedding, and gown designs for both the bride and her attendants, you can begin the process of visiting florists.

Most florists that specialize in weddings book very quickly. It is not uncommon for a florist to accept only 1-2 weddings for a given date. It is highly recommended that if you want to reserve a particular florist, you might want to put down a deposit as early as six to nine months to reserve your date and guarantee that your date will be held.

Be sure and ask to see photos or samples of their work. Also, take along any ideas and pictures that you have come across that you like.

Are silk flowers and fresh flowers the same price?

No, fresh flowers on the whole generally run a little more expensive than silk flowers do. Most flowers are available year round, but you may have to pay a little more if they are out of season.

If you choose to order silk or permanent flowers for your wedding, make sure that your florist will only use the finest quality of silks. There are many silk flowers that so closely resemble their fresh twin, that you might have to feel them to tell the difference. There are also many fragrance sprays so even your nose may be deceived.

Will you deliver the flowers or must I pick them up? Do you stay at the wedding to pin the flowers on or should I get someone else to do that?

Floral Originals has several different tiers of service available. You may choose to pick your flowers up, but if they are fresh, do you really want to be responsible for them and will it conflict with your hair and makeup appointments, etc. I do offer a basic delivery service, where the flowers are delivered and dropped off at your ceremony and reception site. Or you may choose to have delivery and set up, this is where we would actually place pew decorations on pews and set up the candelabras or other rental items for you and pick them back up after the event. Or you may choose to have me coordinate the entire day and or rehearsal events. This would include delivery and the set up of all flowers and decorations. We would pin on the flowers before your photo session, we will coordinate with your musicians and officiant and send your bridal party down the aisle at the appropriate time to the correct music, and be your right hand person throughout the ceremony and reception. We can do this for just the wedding day or include the rehearsal also.
